FAQ – CrowdEyes for Schools
What is CrowdEyes and how can it be used in a school?
CrowdEyes is a digital system for handling lost items in schools. The school registers found items in the CrowdEyes web app, and students/parents can then view the items in the CrowdEyes mobile app and request their return.
How does it work in practice at a school?
The process is simple:
- The school registers found items in the CrowdEyes web app.
- The items become visible to students and parents in the CrowdEyes mobile app.
- The owner requests the item via the mobile app.
- The school approves and verifies the owner.
- Return is registered and documented in the system.
What types of objects can be registered?
Typically, schools register:
- Clothing (jackets, sweaters, hats, gloves)
- Shoes and sportswear
- Bags and pencil cases
- Lunch boxes and water bottles
- Keys
- Jewelry and watches
- Mobile phones
- Bicycle helmets
- Sports equipment
Who can see the found items?
Only people using the CrowdEyes app can see the found items. These are typically students and parents from the school or local area.
Does it save time for school staff?
Yes. Most schools today spend a lot of time on:
- Handling forgotten boxes
- Responding to messages from parents
- Looking for owners
- Handling unclaimed items
With CrowdEyes, the process becomes digital and much less time-consuming.
All steps are logged so you always have documentation of who the item was handed over to.
What do we do with items that are not picked up?
CrowdEyes helps the school document what happens to items that are not picked up, for example:
- Storage for a period of time
- Pickup days
- Donation
- Disposal
Everything can be registered and documented in the system.
Is CrowdEyes GDPR-safe?
Yes. CrowdEyes is designed for secure handling of personal data:
- Only relevant information is recorded
- Access control
- Logging and documentation
- Option to delete data
Is it difficult for staff to use?
No. The system is very simple and can be used from a computer, tablet or mobile phone. Most people learn it in under 30 minutes.
Can parents use the system?
Yes. Parents can use the CrowdEyes mobile app to:
- View found items
- Search for items
- Request items to be returned
How quickly can we get started?
Most schools can be up and running in a few days, as the system is web-based and does not require installation.
